1862 The British American Navigator A Sailing Directory Fot Island & Banks Newfoundland

The 1862 edition of The British American Navigator is a comprehensive sailing directory compiled by Alexander George Findlay, building upon the foundational work of John Purdy. This guide serves as a vital resource for navigators, offering detailed information on the island and banks of Newfoundland, the Gulf and River of St. Lawrence, Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and the coasts extending to Boston. Published in London by R.H. Laurie, it is recognized as Volume I in the series of Sailing Directories for the eastern coasts and islands of America.

The 1862 edition is available in digital format through Canadiana, providing full-text access to its contents. This resource is invaluable for historical maritime research, offering insights into 19th-century navigation practices and coastal geography.

If you're interested in specific sections or topics within this directory, such as navigational charts, tidal information, or descriptions of particular coastal areas, feel free to ask, and I can assist you in locating those details.
